Neighbors answering for neighbors. Suck Creek Volunteer Fire Department has stood ready to protect Chattanooga's Highway 27 corridor for decades — fueled by courage, community, and an unwavering commitment to service.
Every member serves without salary — driven by the belief that this community deserves protection.
Suck Creek Volunteer Fire Department isn't a government agency with a budget and a payroll. It's a fellowship of Chattanooga neighbors — teachers, mechanics, nurses, retirees, and working parents — who picked up the phone when the call came and said: "I'm on my way."
Stationed along Highway 27, we respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disaster relief across a rapidly growing corridor of Chattanooga. Our equipment is maintained by volunteer hands. Our training is rigorous. Our commitment is absolute.
From the moment an alarm is received to the day after the last fire is out, Suck Creek Volunteer Fire Department stands ready — and goes further.
Structure fires, vehicle fires, brush fires, and hazardous material incidents — our volunteers deploy with speed and precision, day or night.
First response medical care while ambulances are en route. Our volunteers are trained in first aid, CPR, and emergency medical procedures.
Vehicle extrication, water rescue, search and rescue, and technical rescue — equipped and trained for Chattanooga's varied terrain.
Inspections, code enforcement, and education programs that prevent fires before they start — in homes, businesses, and schools across the area.
Fire safety workshops, school visits, station tours, and public demonstrations — empowering residents with the knowledge to stay safe.
When neighboring departments need support, we respond. And when they call, we know they'll return the favor without hesitation.
Volunteer fire departments like ours exist because communities decide they matter. Every donation, every grant application, every conversation at a church basement or civic meeting keeps our equipment running and our volunteers equipped.
We serve a stretch of Highway 27 that includes residential neighborhoods, rural properties, and areas of ongoing development. Growth brings new risks — and new responsibilities. That's why community engagement isn't optional for us. It's essential.
